Participating Academies

AGATE serves to map research projects and outcomes from the academies' long-term research programme. In addition to the eight academies of the Union of the German Academies of Sciences and Humanities and the National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina, AGATE currently also includes projects from Switzerland. The following list provides an introduction to all the academies participating in AGATE. Further information on the academies can be found on detailed pages, such as information on current and completed research projects. The full-text search allows truncation by setting an asterisk ('*') in combination with at least three characters.

„Fecundat et ornat – it is fertilizing and decorating“. In accordance with this leading idea the Göttingen Academy of Sciences and Humanities in Lower Saxony has been founded by the Sovereign King George II., August of Great Britain, Elector of Hannover, in 1751. As one of the oldest institution of its kind in Germany, which has been in place continuously, the Göttingen Academy is able to look back at a long tradition with famous members, like the brothers Grimm, David Hilbert and Werner Heisenberg.
