The art historian Heinrich Wölfflin (1864-1945) is one of the most influential international authors in the field to this day. On the occasion of the centenary of the principles (Grundbegtriffe) of art history, Heinrich Wölfflin's collected works are published under the direction of Prof. Dr. Tristan Weddigen and Prof. Dr. Oskar Bätschmann. The fourteen-volume edition will be published by Schwabe Verlag over a period of six years. The first two years were financed thanks to project funding from the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF); the subsequent four years until 2020 were funded by the Max Planck Society (MPG) and the SNSF. The critically commented edition covers all of Wölfflin's publications as well as a selection of his unpublished writings. The aim is to present Wölfflin's rich intellectual oeuvre in its entire range and its discursive context, to reflect on it from today's scientific point of view and to make it available to researchers as a print and online publication.
