Urkundenregesten zur Tätigkeit des deutschen Königs- und Hofgerichts bis 1451

The negative judgments about the German royal and court court court, which can be found everywhere in the literature, are based on the fact that one could not get an idea of the activity of this court, because there is no central court court court tradition, which could have offered the sources for a well-founded judgement. The project has set itself the goal of collecting and presenting the sources arising from or related to the activities of the Royal Court. For this purpose it was and is necessary to examine as many of the recipient archives of documents as possible as to whether they contain such documents. At best, such documents are available in print for the period up to the middle of the 14th century. For this period, the value of the collection consists mainly in the fact that the relevant material is presented for the first time in a closed form, so that for the first time a sufficient source basis for judgments on the activities of the German Central Court is available. For the subsequent period up to 1451, it is added that almost exclusively unprinted material will be made accessible. The knowledge gained from these sources will be great. For the first time it will be possible to examine whether and to what extent the German rulers exercised their judicial functions in comparison to the King of France or England. Since the tasks as judges were central for the rulers, information about the system of rule of the medieval empire in general will also emerge. Since the sources of supra-regional importance for other courts in Germany (the upper courts of Magdeburg, Lübeck, Frankfurt, Ingelheim etc.) have only been passed down from the late Middle Ages, the documents suggesting the activity of the German royal court will offer the only possibility of analysing the judicial activity of an institution from the 10th century to the middle of the 15th century.
