Data and Service Center for the Humanities

The DaSCH is a data and service centre for research data in the humanities, which the Swiss Academy of Humanities and Social Sciences has been operating since 2017 as a national institution in cooperation with the University of Basel. The central coordination office is located at the Digital Humanities Lab of the University of Basel under the direction of Prof. Dr. Lukas Rosenthaler. For the first level support of the researchers, satellites are planned or already implemented at individual universities (Université de Lausanne).

The DaSCH offers the following services:

a) Operation and constant further development of a platform for research data in the humanities;

b) Long-term data security (deposit / collection), maintenance of permanent access to the data (access / search), presentation and provision of the data (virtual research environment / present / visualize / Linked open Data);

c) Consulting services for completed, ongoing and planned research projects;

d) Coordination of the local initiatives of the universities / satellites cooperating with DaSCH;

e) Ensuring international networking with other relevant institutions (DARIAH, ADHO, DHd, ALLEA etc.).
