Leibniz-Rechenzentrum

Research in the field of computer science takes place at the BAdW-Institute Leibniz-Rechenzentrum(LRZ) and concentrates on two main areas: practical and technical computer science and applied computer science. In the field of technical and practical computer science, the following topics are in the focus: integrated management of computer networks, IT services and information security; optimization of the energy consumption of complex IT and computer center infrastructures; extreme scaling of simulation applications on modern high-performance computer architectures; cooperative management of e-infrastructures for data- and computing-intensive applications as well as virtual reality and visualization. Applied computer science is about supporting scientists from various disciplines in the implementation of their computer-aided research (e.g. astro and plasma physics, life sciences, geosciences or environmental sciences).
