Max Weber (1864-1920), one of the outstanding scholars of the early 20th century, is known worldwide as a classic of modern sociology. The Max Weber-Gesamtausgabe (MWG) presents his work completely and according to historical-critical principles in three sections: I. writings and speeches, II. letters, III. lectures and lecture transcripts. His texts are transcribed, philologically examined, objectively indexed and placed in the context of the history of science. The largest part of the 47-volume edition has been published since 1984. The general editorial office and an extensive Max Weber collection with a special library, which is used by Weber researchers from all over the world, are located in Munich.
