Research Project, 1999–2013
A project of the
Academy, since 1909
Heidelberg Academy of Sciences and Humanities
Documentary handbook on the tradition of ancient and medieval literature in the early modern period. A bibliographical and at the same time documentary repertory is being compiled, which covers the entire field of the literary reception history of antiquity and the Middle Ages for the period between 1500 and 1630, including later reprints (up to the 19th century). In accordance with the international framework, the early editors, translators and commentators will consider all forms of transmission of texts from the period before 1500. The corresponding paratexts are printed, explained with regressions and expert commentaries, each also registered in its later print history, and each is introduced by biographical portraits and the most complete possible proof of the research literature.
The project comprises the research area Germany (Department I: The Electoral Palatinate and its Dependencies - Department II: Baden, Fore Austria and Württemberg). It is part of the joint project of European research centres in cooperation with the Centre Nationale de la Recherche Scientifique in Paris.
