AGATE

The Leopoldina-Edition is the first and so far only complete historical-critical and annotated edition of Goethe's writings on natural science. The edition is a benchmark acknowledged by the Goethe-Philology and on which the modern Studienausgaben of Goethe's works are based. Furthermore, the Leopoldina-Edition is a reliable and valuable tool for historical studies of the natural sciences in the late 18th and early 19th centuries.

With 11 volumes, the first section of the edition containing the writings is already completed. The second section, the supplements and explanations, has already been published in most instances. The final volumes are in print or editing. The volumes providing the essential indices of persons, places and subjects are planned.
