Deutsche Texte des Mittelalters

The editions of the German texts of the Middle Ages are compiled partly by staff of the Berlin office and partly by authors from all over the world. The current editions deal with medieval verse epics (Albrecht's Jüngerer Titurel), verse or prose chronicles (Christherre-Chronik, Weltchronik Heinrichs von München, Eisenacher Stadtchronik und Thüringische Landeschronik von Johannes Rothe), historical bibles, sermon collections (Postille Hartwig von Erfurt, Kuppitsch'sche Predigtsammlung) and other sacred and secular prose texts of the late Middle Ages.

The second project managed by the research unit , the Manuscript Archive, contains over 19,000 descriptions of medieval German manuscripts from 600 public and private collections in over 350 locations in Europe and America. While the descriptions have been preserved, the registers, which had been compiled at great expense (over 1,000,000 catalogue cards), were burned in 1945. In order to make the descriptions accessible again, indices are being compiled. Together with the 'Gesamtindex mittelalterlicher Handschriften' these registers form the DBI-LINK database 'Handschriften des Mittelalters', which is online accessible. In addition, the project has been working on the „Berichte über die Editionsvorhaben zu mittelalterlichen deutschen Texten" in the journal "Germanistik" since 1997.
